Compass was written over a course of 3 years. Some songs came and went, ideas were tossed around, and a lot of time was spend jamming on our instruments day and night inside a small garage. Becoming "The Radio Effect" was brought up as an idea when the Napa music scene was alive and at full throttle, when bands played local shows every week and a few bands even got that once in a lifetime opportunity. We all wanted to do the same going into this production.
Different music tastes and artists influenced our individual songs. When it came to song writing it wasn't about forcing out a specific guitar riff or a certain genre of a song. That's why it's so difficult for us to describe what we really are. It's music, art, and our expressions and emotions. That's all there is to it. Songs in Compass change dramatically as they all have different vibes and rhythms, not one song similar to each other. We created the EP in order to find our own way towards getting out there in the world, and sharing our music with everyone. In a way, our music was also written to speak out to the listener and help them find their own way through individual troubles, hence the name "Compass". It's all about finding the right path.
